There have been talks for years about creating some type of BMX/action sports union but nothing concrete has materialized. Riders are classified as independent contractors, and this classification combined with the fact that they're putting themselves in danger is why insurance is so hard to get. Feel free to contribute suggests or opinions as i provide more information in time.<br /> 2: Providing contact information for people in the business i could potentially network with; ie: EastCoast professionals (think, Brien Hunt, etc), shop owners, skatepark owners, etc. This goes beyond skate/bmx though, and includes snowmobile racing, FMX, really ANY 'action sport'.<br /> 3: Keep your ears on the ground for events at major facilities in the eastcoast. For instance, Brien mentioned to me the shitluck jam jan 10. I forwarded the info regarding that jam, and Jeff (president of ASAG) is going to attempt to be there to rub elbows. ANY/ALL opportunities such as this are key to spreading the word at this point in time. Jams/events provided a small, concentrated location with numerous 'big names.'<br /> 4: Simply keep the idea in your head that there are efforts being made to insure action sport athletes. At this point in time, simply educating everyone that participates in these types of sports that there are efforts being made, and already a few success stories, is a major goal of ASAG. The more people that know, and tell a friend, who then tell a friend, etc....the fewer who are left out of the loop and uninsured in the future.</p> <p>I will post up more info as soon as i get it. For now, networking is being conducted via email and phone calls, with face-to-face elbow rubbing at major events being the largest method. Facebook groups etc are in the making.
